A: The most common armored models are generally SWA (steel wire armored) and STA(steel tape armored).
SWA Cables is suitable for high drop areas and can withstand mechanical external forces and considerable tension.
STA Cables is suitable for buried laying and can withstand mechanical external forces but cannot withstand large tensile forces.
Generally , SWA is preferred because it enables the cable to be drawn into an installation using apulling stockingwhich grips the outside of the oversheath and transfers all the pulling tension to the SWAThis cannot normally be done with STA cables because of the risk of dislocating the armour tapesduring the pull.
And Unarmored cables can be used if they are installed indoors or in a protected areasuch as a pipe, where they do not need to withstand a external forces/tensile.
